There are so many useful little gems in the mac world, some of them took me month to find. I won’t list basics like Adium, VLCTextMate, Transmission or Tweetie, but the little rackers that make you smile using them!

  • Caffeine – tiny button that keeps your mac from sleeping, perfect to read longer text (where display would be dimmed otherwise)

  • Visor – Quake-Like always-there head terminal.
  • DTerm – command line everywhere
  • The Hit List – best todo app out there
  • Snowtape – best streaming radio app
  • Google Quick Search Box – even better than spotlight!
  • AppFresh – for update junkeys like me
  • HardwareGrowler – see whats happening in your mac
  • TimeMachineEditor – don’t spin up the drives every fuckin’ hour!
  • google gears for snow leopard. for god’s sake!
  • iStat Menus – see cpu history, hard disk utilization and more
  • Candelair – fix broken remote in snow leopard
  • Perian – play all kinds of videos in quicktime
  • SteerMouse – unless you have an magic mouse, you’ll need it!
